Oh no, should I read 50 pages of a boring whitepaper when I can watch a 5min video?
Sometimes it takes even less than 5 minutes to understand that who wrote the text has no skills, or that the project is just a copy of something that has already a well-established story and market.
Of course, successful projects and companies will organically be under the light of important medias, but the assumption to be made is that 90% of what you see is a sponsored content.
Are you suggesting ignoring Youtubers, media presses and listing websites?
Absolutely no, but they should mainly be used to discover what’s going on around. You still need to investigate and evaluate whether you feel comfortable with the project, with the team and with the support they offer.
Advertising can increase your visibility, but does not necessarily mean quality
Read the whitepaper looking for obvious flaws. Ask questions directly to co-founders, meet them in person, make a video call and evaluate yourself if they know what they are doing. This is the only way to truly understand the potential of a project.
